Community Meeting with Priscilla Hunter
October 9, 2022 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
COMMUNITY ACTION ALERT
CALL FOR INPUT ON CAL FIRE’S SETTLEMENT OFFER ON THE CASPAR 500
THP IN JACKSON DEMONSTRATION STATE FOREST
Priscilla Hunter, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer of the Coyote
Valley Band of Pomo Indians is calling for a Community Meeting of
concerned citizens on October 9 th at the Kiosk on Road 500 at 1:00 pm in Jackson Demonstration State Forest to address concerns raised by the letter she received from Cal Fire on September 26 th.
She is very alarmed that sacred site protection concerns have gone
totally unaddressed in Cal Fire negotiations to date, and finds the
response contained in this letter from Cal Fire to be unacceptable.
The Co Management Agreement her Tribe seeks is for the entirety of JDSF, their ancestral Northern Pomo and Coast Yuki territory, not just a 75 acre view corridor in the Caspar 500 THP.
A Coalition of concerned citizens, Save Jackson.org, and her Tribe are calling for a Moratorium on logging operations in JDSF until a Tribal Co-Management Agreement is completed and sacred site protection as well as climate change and fire safety concerns have been satisfactorily addressed in a new Management Plan.
Please join her on October 9 th to offer community input in response to this Cal Fire letter
Directions to the Kiosk From Hwy 1 go east on Fern Creek Road, turn right on Caspar Orchard Road, follow it until it becomes dirt and continue to the parking area at the kiosk. Bring chairs
