April 12 at 10:00 a.m.
The Coalition to Save Jackson State Forest invites you supporters and the public to attend the run by the ‘AIM 500 Mile Spirit Runners’ in Jackson Forest on April 12th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00p.m. to support local Tribes in their efforts to protect and preserve the critters, trees and waters in this forest, which has been their ancestral territory for thousands of years.
The event will begin with people gathering at Camp One at 10:00 a.m., with the run commencing at 10:30, and is intended to connect the ancestors and the trees with the prayers of these runners and to re-energize the Movement with these prayers. This is a prayer run, not a protest.
The trail includes steep areas and will take place in stages. Runners from the public are invited to join as appropriate to their abilities, in harmony with the Spirit Runners. The gathering will be addressed by speakers while waiting to receive the Runners on their return.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy this special day in the forest, surrounded by beautiful redwoods. Camp One in JDSF has a lovely creek running through it, where kids can play. It really soothes the spirit just to be there. See you on Sunday, April 12th.

*If you simply type Camp One into google maps it will send you the wrong way on locked roads!
Please carpool if you can, parking is tight and we hope many people come.
Please drive carefully, the dirt road down the hill is windy, the road is good, any size car will be fine, but there are potholes in some sections so please drive slowly.
Please arrive at 10am to the map pin or after 11:30, as runners will be running down the same hill at 10:30 and all cars should be down the hill before the run begins, for safety.

Driving west from Willits to the coast it looks like this, see the Camp One sign by telephone pole:
You are welcome to run with the Spirit Runners! It is 3 miles, downhill the whole way, from the map pin. If you are running, please plan to park at the map pin, or get dropped off there and cars go down to the river.
Driving down, there are several small spur roads off Road 350 for other campgrounds but most have a gate or cable blocking them, just stay on the main, big road. Please park tightly once you get to the bottom.
Enjoy the river and redwoods while the Spirit Runners make their way down the hill, and welcome them to Camp One around 11:15am. The runners will then regroup and stretch.
Those who wish to continue with the run will go 3 more miles to Camp 8, which is not accessible by cars for support so please be sure of your running abilities. Then runners will return to Camp One via the same way in, for a total of a 9 mile run. This stretch to Camp 8 is mostly level along the river with a few short, steep ups and downs.
At Camp One, while the runners are out to Camp 8, there will be speakers and updates about AB 2494, the bill to change demonstration forest management to include Traditional Ecological Knowledge of local Tribes.
Approximately 12:30 pm is when the runners will be welcomed back to Camp One!
Drum and songs, closing circle, followed by lunch of lamb stew, carrot soup, salad and please feel free to bring a potluck salad, dish or dessert to share. There are nice wooden outhouses and some benches on site. Thank you!
