Let’s all go see Camp 8! The reason the Spirit Runners went to Camp 8 and why we invite you to come see it is because it is the site of the most recently proposed Timber Harvest Plan in JDSF that threatens Old Growth forest. CalFire has not shown in any plans how close to the Old Growth, or which specific trees, they propose cutting and could bring it to the JAG for approval at any meeting!
Bring: water, lunch, sturdy shoes, jacket. The hike will begin at Camp One and follow road 360 to road 361 along the beautiful Noyo River and back again on the same dirt roads. It is about 6 miles total, out and back between Camp One and Camp 8.
There is one large hill up and down. Hikers are welcome to go only as far as they like and return by the same route which will be marked at intersections for safety.
Directions
To get to Camp One take Highway 20 to Mile Marker 5.9, and turn north on the JDSF Forest Road 350.

Driving west from Willits to the coast it looks like this, see the Camp One sign by telephone pole:
It’s about 15 minutes from the map pin driving down the hill to Camp One, there are several small spur roads for other campgrounds just stay on the main, big road.
At Camp One we will gather up at the same location as the recent Spirit Run and start the hike by 11:15 so please arrive at 11am.
