All out to the JAG Meeting September 15th!
September 15, 2023
9am to 12:30pm (detailed agenda available Sept. 5)
First Presbyterian Church
367 South Sanderson Way
Fort Bragg, CA 95437
The JAG was established years ago to provide community input on forest management in Jackson Demonstration State Forest, and we will be showing up to speak about the dangers to the ecosystem of continued timber harvest and the need for a new management plan, co-created with local Tribes and the community, that prioritizes restoration.
Please join us!
Our local State Assemblymember Wood wrote on September 20, 2021 in a letter to Chairman Hunter of the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians “I agree that until these policies have been reviewed and changes made, no new timber harvest plans should be considered.” State Senator McGuire stated on March 2, 2022 at a town hall that he “believe[s] the model for Jackson Demonstration State Forest is antiquated” and that the forest needed an “interim plan” and that “everything should be on the table” for that interim plan.
Yet CalFire persists.
Please read and sign this Action Alert, and join us at the JAG meeting to oppose these new THPs and call for a new management plan that includes community and Tribal input, and environmental review!
