Join the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians’ Tribal Chairman Michael Hunter, Tribal Elder and Historic Preservation Officer Priscilla Hunter, and Movement Elder Polly Girvin to learn about the Pomo Land Back campaign and what you can do to support protection of their homelands and sacred sites, currently called Jackson Demonstration State Forest (JDSF) in Northern California.
They are pushing hard right now for an immediate moratorium on logging and to officially co-manage their ancestral land in the redwood and tan-oak forest currently managed by CalFIRE, to protect Sacred Sites and the forest from industrial logging.
The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians has garnered the support of the California Tribal Chairperson’s Association which consists of 90 tribes, the 70 organizations of the California Environmental Justice Coalition, as well as the Coalition to Save Jackson State Forest and thousands of individuals. For more details on this campaign please see this background and historical context document. You can donate to support at: www.pomolandback.com
The National SURJ and the Catalyst Project in San Francisco are sponsoring this event so it can be a national webinar, with national promotion!
